RFK Scholars Abroad Program
A new scholarship program for high school students interested in studying abroad this summer has been established by the Robert F. Kennedy Center for Justice and Human Rights, with funding by the American Institute For Foreign Study (AIFS) Foundation.
The RFK Scholars Abroad Program is a three-year program scheduled to begin in the summer of 2009. Each year, two students will receive scholarships of $5,000 each for use toward any recognized academic study abroad program sponsored by their school or private organizations. Minority candidates and students with demonstrated financial need are encouraged to apply.
To be eligible for the scholarships, students must be in excellent academic standing (3.0 GPA or higher), have an interest in Social Justice, and write an essay on the topic to be submitted along with their application. The application deadline is May 1, 2009.
A committee comprised of representatives from both the Robert F. Kennedy Center for Justice and Human Rights and the AIFS Foundation will select the winners of the scholarship. An award ceremony will be held in June to announce the recipients.
For more details about the new Robert F. Kennedy Scholars Abroad Program, please contact Kelley Quigley (800) 322-4678, ext. 5196 or e-mail kquigley@aifs.com.
