Richmond, The American International University in London, England: Student Life
Housing and meals
Students are housed in residence halls in triple, double and single rooms. 18 meals a week in the student cafeteria are included. Saturday lunch and dinner and Sunday lunch are not included.
Facilities
In addition to student residences, a dining hall, student common room and faculty/administrative offices, the site also accommodates a modern five level library, classrooms, computer facilities with internet access, science laboratories, art and photography studios and an auditorium. Within a few minutes’ walk is Richmond Park, covering 2,500 acres. Students are provided with a London travel card for unlimited journeys from Richmond into Central London using buses and the Tube.
Supervision and staff
Summer Advantage provides a high level of student supervision and counseling with a Resident Director and Resident Advisors on a ratio of 1 staff member per 15 students. AIFS staff live on-site and students are required to observe a curfew.
Keeping in touch
Students can use the computer lab on campus for access to the internet/e-mail. We strongly recommend that students purchase a cell phone for the duration of the program. AIFS staff will provide more information on how to do this at the on-site orientation meeting.
Visas
Visas are not required for U.S. citizens staying in London for less than 3 months.
