About Us
AIFS Summer Advantage programs provide high school students aged 16* and older who have completed their sophomore year with a taste of university life before they enroll in college, as well as help strengthen their prospects for acceptance at a leading university through foreign language study or liberal arts courses abroad. Most U.S. colleges accept transfer credits for completed work from the programs.
The program is organized by the American Institute For Foreign Study (AIFS), the leading provider of educational and cultural exchange programs. Since 1964, more than one million students and teachers have participated in AIFS programs worldwide.
AIFS Summer Advantage provide a unique and excellent opportunity for students entering junior or senior year to experience an educational program in a prestigious university setting abroad and get a head start on one or more of the subjects they wish to study during college. Students who apply to college in the fall semester of their senior year will be able to submit the transcript and grades from their summer program at AIFS with their high school record, thereby enhancing chances for admission to the college of their choice. Such applicants will be more interesting candidates to colleges and may well find the college they attend will transfer credit or give them advanced standing based on the transcripts and grades of their AIFS Summer Advantage program.
